Training Classes

All trainings have an associated fee, with the exception of DOE courses that do not have student fees. The class fee will normally be $5, $10, or $15.

Students must fill out a registration form. ELC must receive all fees and registration forms prior to 48 hours in advance of the class. PayPal, money order, checks and “no change required” cash are accepted to reserve a spot in a class. Cash is only accepted in person at the ELC office. Do not send cash in the mail.

To reserve a spot in classes that do not have an associated fee, or for general questions, please call the Early Learning Coalition at (941) 757-2900 extension 250.

Course: Sensory Processing Disorder: Kids Who Feel Too Much 4/27/16
Wednesday, April 27, 2016 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Sensory processing disorder is a condition in which the brain has trouble receiving and responding to information that comes in through the senses. In this presentation, we will discuss the symptoms, causes and treatment of the disorder. Also, we will discuss strategies to help a child with sensory
processing disorder in the classroom.

Course: ASQ3 & ASQ:SE Overview 5/11/16
Wednesday, May 11, 2016 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Topics including screening and assessment will be discussed as well as exploring the new features of the Ages & Stages Questionnaires Third Edition and the ASQ: Social-Emotional Screening Tool. Participants will be actively involved observing children and completing ASQs.

Cost: $5.00 per participant, FREE for those in QRIS programs. Register with payment by Monday May 9, 2016.

Course: Autism: Learn the Signs 5/17/16
Tuesday, May 17, 2016 6:00pm - 8:00pm

This training will discuss the early signs of Autism in children. We will discuss the symptoms, causes, and treatment of Autism. We will discuss strategies to help a child with Autism in the classroom.

Course: Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED 6/10/16
Friday, June 10, 2016 8:30am - 2:30pm

Learn the appropriate techniques for applying standard first aid procedures and cardiopulmonary resuscitation with and without AED’s. Certification from the American Red Cross is good for two years. Participants take home Adult and Pediatric Ready Reference cards. Participants must supply a unique email address that the American Red Cross will attach to their training record.

Participants are given a half-hour for lunch (bring your own). There are no vending machines in the building. Cost: $50.00 per participant, $35.00 for those in QRIS programs. Register with payment by Wednesday June 1, 2016.
