Training Classes

All trainings have an associated fee, with the exception of DOE courses that do not have student fees. The class fee will normally be $5, $10, or $15.

Students must fill out a registration form. ELC must receive all fees and registration forms prior to 48 hours in advance of the class. PayPal, money order, checks and “no change required” cash are accepted to reserve a spot in a class. Cash is only accepted in person at the ELC office. Do not send cash in the mail.

Course: Standard First Aid with CPR/AED-Adult and Child and CPR-Infant
Saturday, February 11, 2012 8:00am - 3:30pm

Standard First Aid with CPR/AED-Adult and Child and CPR-Infant

Priority in registration for this class is given to any person working in a Manatee County early care and education program. This training meets licensing requirements for persons working in child care facili-ties or family child care homes. Participants must pre-register and pre-pay. Registrants must notify ELC by phone by 8:00am Friday, February 10 if they cannot attend to qualify for a refund. The course has 16 spaces, and they fill quickly. Participating students take with them pediatric and adult skill cards, and a keychain with breathing barrier and gloves.

Cost: $50.00 per person, $35.00 for QRIS participants.

Course: NAEYC - Communication Skills for Challenging Conversations: Module 1
Monday, February 13, 2012 6:30pm - 9:00pm

Principles of Family Centered Care

This NAEYC developed 5-session course presents strategies to im-prove partnerships with parents through exploring and practicing communication skills. It is based on the book, From Parents to Partners by Janis Keyser, published and sold by Redleaf Press and NAEYC. Explore the five base principles, identify why conversations can be challenging, and recognize parent motivation or “healthy impulses."
