The Early Learning Coalition of Manatee County has been awarded $700 from the Angus Graham Foundation to support their Child Passenger Safety Program. Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPST) provide one-on-one education to parents and caregivers on the best way to keep their child safe in and around cars. The technicians ensure car seats are used and installed correctly.

PEARLS is the Coalition’s newest program - and stands for Preschool Emergency Alert Response Learning System. The Coalition has partnered with local law enforcement (Palmetto Police Department, Bradenton Police Department, and Manatee County Sheriff’s Office) to develop the program that educates childcare providers on possible ways to handle emergency situations. Monday, December 4th, 2017 sees the launch of the Notification System – which is the first of its kind in the State of Florida.
Palmetto, Florida, October 9, 2017 - The Early Learning Coalition (ELC) of Manatee County, Inc. has been awarded a $1438 grant from the Lakewood Ranch Community Fund of the Manatee Community Foundation. The grant will support the ELC 'STEAM Machine' as it arrives at early learning classrooms in the Lakewood Ranch area.
The STEAM Machine has been visiting child care centers across Manatee County since mid-July, providing one hour sessions that focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and/or Mathematics. Promoting STEAM education gives children the opportunity to attain essential skills to connect ideas and integrate knowledge across disciplines, all the while capturing their attention.

(ELC) has been honored with the 2016 Outstanding Directors Award by the Tampa Bay Business Journal. The Tampa Bay Business Journal recognizes Tampa Bay-based 501(c)(3), non-foundation community organizations benefiting residents of the eight counties in the Greater Tampa Bay Metro Area, who are fiscally responsible and accountable with regard to program outcomes.

The grant is for the continued implementation of the nationally renowned "Raising a Reader" program, whose network offers an evidence-based early literacy and parent engagement program that has demonstrated improvement in the reading readiness skills of children from birth to age five.
Palmetto, Florida, July 22, 2016 – The Early Learning Coalition (ELC) of Manatee County, Inc. has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Rays Baseball Foundation to provide books for the Raising A Reader component of its new Early Steps to School Success (ESSS) program. The Raising A Reader materials will provide 50 children and their parents with 100 award-winning books to read at home during this school year. The books will then be recirculated among 50 additional families over the next four years servicing a total of 250 children.
